Asalamu Alaykum WarahmatuLLAAHi Wabarakatuhu20. Al-Qaabid
(The Withholder, The Restrainer, The Constrictor)
Who is he that will lend to Allah a goodly loan so that He may multiply it to him many times? And it is Allah that decreases or increases (your provisions), and unto Him you shall return.
( سورة البقرة , Al-Baqara, Chapter #2, Verse #245)
The One whose wisdom causes withholding, either physically or spiritually.
The One whose wisdom decides when to withhold something, or make something scarce.
The One whose wisdom may elect to withhold joy and expansion of the heart.
The One in whose hand all hearts are held.
The One whose hand collects all souls at the time of death.
From the root q-b-d which has the following classical Arabic connotations:
to take in the hand, clutch, lay hold of
to grasp, grip, seize, hold firmly
to have absolute ownership of something (hold in the hand)
to give and take (hand over and take in hand), barter
to contract, shrink, draw together, collect together
to draw in (as a bird contracting a wing)
to withhold, make scanty, make scarce
to contract the heart, i.e. distress, depression, lack of joy
The name Qabid is not specifically used as a Beautiful Name in the Qur'an.
The underlying roots of Qabid give a sense of give and take, a movement back and forth, an underlying rhythm of ebb and flow, like the rhythmical folding and unfolding of a bird's wings in flight, or the rising and setting of the sun, or the endless cycles of life and death.
Qabid (constrictor) and Basit (expander) are opposites.
(Also written as al-qabid, al-qaabid, the Giver: ya qabid, ya qaabid,)
Remember ALLAH's countless blessings and do not be ungrateful to Him. He has given us our right to be alive, to be guided, to be protected, to be victorious, to be in this honiorable Ummah. How then can we be undutiful? Why then not give Him His right to be worshiped in the best possible ways? Why neglect or delay salah (prayers) when you can perform it at its stated time? Why not take heed in learning and understanding the deen while you strive to be knowledgeable in other fields? Why not practice the beautiful Islamic teachings while the present situation calls upon our duties to refute their allegations wrong? Why bring shame when you can be a good Muslim example? The problem is when we ourselves become irresponsible, the entire Ummah is affected. Let's ponder and act in accordance to what is right. May ALLAH (SWT) add another second in our lives so that we may be able to enjoin all that is good and forbid all that is evil insha ALLAH, amin.
